Treatment
An overdenture is a removable prosthesis that clips onto usually two to four implants in the upper or lower jaw. As a result, the prosthesis is much firmer than a conventional denture, yet remains easy to clean.
You will be referred by your dentist. We will assess your situation and take X-rays. Based on this, we will draw up a personalised treatment plan.
The implant is inserted into the jaw under local anaesthetic.
The implant fuses with the jawbone. This takes longer if bone grafting is required.
Your own dentist will fit the permanent crown and carry out regular check-ups.
An overdenture is usually covered when the dentist cannot make a well-fitting denture. You then only pay your excess. For people with a full set of dentures, two implants in the lower jaw are covered by the basic insurance in selected cases.
If it is not reimbursed, the rate for placing two implants applies.
