The Centre for Implantology works closely with partners both within and outside the St. Antonius Hospital. For patients with complex dental problems, this collaboration provides the right expertise at the right time.

The Centre for Special Dental Care
Sometimes dental problems are so complex that treatment by the general dental practitioner is not possible or (any longer) desirable. This requires special expertise. Patients with such problems are then referred by us or by their own dentist to the Centre for Specialised Dentistry in our hospital.
Dentists work there who have further specialised in various fields and who have gained extensive experience in treating people with complex oral problems.
Please note: The Centre for Special Dental Care treats patients solely on the basis of a referral via a dentist or oral and maxillofacial surgeon. If you have a condition as described below, the costs for consultation and treatment may largely be reimbursed from the basic health insurance. However, a statutory excess applies. The dentist submits an application to your health insurer for a treatment.

What does Special Dental Care cover?
Congenital malformations
Patients with growth disorders, a congenital lack of teeth, a cleft lip and palate, or poor tooth enamel.
Acquired abnormalities
Not congenital but acquired later in life, such as severe wear and tear caused by too much fizzy drink, stomach acid, or teeth grinding.
Trauma
People who have suffered severe trauma, such as a jaw fracture or other injury to the jaw or face.
Temporomandibular joint disorders
Patients with pain when chewing, biting or moving, caused by the masticatory muscles or the jaw joint.
Resorbed jawbone
People with denture problems involving a shrunken jawbone or jaws that do not meet properly.
Advice without treatment
The centre does not always have to provide treatment. It can also limit itself to giving advice to you or your dentist.
