Treatment

sinus lift

Augmentation of the bone beneath the maxillary sinus in the upper jaw, to allow for implants in the lateral region.

What does this treatment involve?

In the upper jaw, above the molars, is the maxillary sinus. If there is too little bone there, we supplement the floor of that sinus so that implants in the lateral part can still be placed.

Benefits
  • Implants in the upper jaw possible
  • Predictable, tried-and-tested technology
Points to note
  • Extra recovery time needed
  • Temporarily avoid blowing your nose

How does the treatment proceed?

1 Referral & intake

You will be referred by your dentist. We will assess your situation and take X-rays. Based on this, we will draw up a personalised treatment plan.

2 Implant placement

The implant is inserted into the jaw under local anaesthetic.

3 Healing

The implant fuses with the jawbone. This takes longer if bone grafting is required.

4 Crown & aftercare

Your own dentist will fit the permanent crown and carry out regular check-ups.

Compensation

Dental implants are not usually covered by basic health insurance. There are exceptions, for example in the case of a serious congenital abnormality, following an accident or in the case of certain medical conditions. In such cases, prior authorisation from the health insurer is required.

Many supplementary dental insurance policies cover part of the costs. The amount varies considerably depending on the insurer and the policy.
