A single implant for a missing tooth or molar, finished with an individual crown.
Treatment
A single dental implant replaces a single missing tooth. The artificial titanium root is placed in the jawbone and fuses with it. Afterwards, your own dentist places the final crown.
Because the implant stands alone, the adjacent teeth do not need to be filed down. That is the main difference from a bridge.
You will be referred by your dentist. We will assess your situation and take X-rays. Based on this, we will draw up a personalised treatment plan.
The implant is inserted into the jaw under local anaesthetic.
The implant fuses with the jawbone. This takes longer if bone grafting is required.
Your own dentist will fit the permanent crown and carry out regular check-ups.
Dental implants are not usually covered by basic health insurance. There are exceptions, for example in the case of a serious congenital abnormality, following an accident or in the case of certain medical conditions. In such cases, prior authorisation from the health insurer is required.
Many supplementary dental insurance policies cover part of the costs. The amount varies considerably depending on the insurer and the policy.
