The procedure is performed under local anaesthetic and is not painful. After the treatment, some swelling or tenderness may occur, but this is generally much less than after having a tooth removed.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>

If there is insufficient bone volume, we can perform a bone graft or sinus lift to supplement the bone. This is sometimes done prior to, and sometimes simultaneously with, the placement of the implant.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>

Dental implants are usually not covered by the basic health insurance. There are exceptions, for example in the case of a severe congenital abnormality, after an accident or with certain medical conditions where an implant is medically necessary. In those cases, prior approval from the health insurer is often required. Many supplementary dental insurance policies cover (part of) the costs; the amount varies greatly per insurer and policy, often with a maximum amount per year or a percentage of the costs. If implants are needed to support a fully removable denture (overdenture), cover from the basic insurance is possible. Usually, you will still pay a personal contribution and the excess (deductible) may apply.<\/p>

For patients covered by Specialised Dental Care, a large proportion of the costs may be reimbursed under the basic insurance policy. However, a statutory excess applies. Your dentist will submit a claim to your health insurer for this.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>
